Time warp

Anyone know what happened to 101.1 Movin (WMVN) in St. Louis? All of a sudden they're plaing Christmas music. I know that KEZK does that every year, but only between Thanksgiving and Christmas....

It hasn't been that long since 101.1 switched from The River to their Movin format. Are they switching again?

Maybe if I listened longer I might hear a radio announcer say something and give me a clue as to whether the switch is permanent or a symptom of a bigger issue. But really, there's only so much Bing Crosby I can take in early October.

And does anyone else actually miss The Mall (it was on 104.1). So I'm strange, but I actually liked the 3pm Bon Jovi fix every day...My husband preferred its previous incarnation as The Rock (OK, so that was like 10 years ago).

When "The Mall" disappeared a couple of years ago, they used the same trick--all of a sudden they were Christmas music and then after Christmas it was a whole new station....

Wikipedia answered my question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WMVN

They say this:
WMVN (101.1 FM, "Christmas 101.1") is a commercial radio station located in East St. Louis, Illinois, broadcasting to the Greater St. Louis area. WMVN has aired a hot AC/rhythmic contemporary music format (as "MOViN 101.1") but on October 10, 2008 it switched to an all Christmas music station as a prelude to transitioning to all-sports in January 2009.

All-sports. Sounds thrilling. Guess I have room on my stereo presets now...

Eww. All Sports. Yuck. Both my husband and I woke up to Christmas music one morning which in the early part of October is just plain strange. I already moved it off my presets and apparently it will remain off. 106.5 plays 80s and 90s, I think. They have some good music. 101.1 changed to Movin shortly before we moved to England.
